Oregon State University Pre-College Programs provided free Science and Engineering Camps for about 70 middle school students from Warm Springs, Madras, Culver, Redmond and Sisters this past summer.
Oregon State students worked as instructors at the 2-day workshop. In the camps, students discussed the benefits of going to college and learned what approach engineers take to problem-solve. The students constructed devices using wave and wind motion to generate electricity and assembled and raced solar-powered cars.
Migrant Education, Juntos and the Warm Springs Boys & Girls Club worked together to coordinate and promote the camps, and provide food for the students.
